Nearly every industry in the world creates waste streams. Much of the waste is unwanted, unused and potentially harmful to our environment. Many companies cannot expand operations without proper waste management. Poor waste management techniques can also harm employees and the corporate image. Most industries need expensive fuel and power to make their products and resulting waste streams. Their price for fuel (typically natural gas) is extremely volatile.
The Opportunity
Much of the waste is available at little or no cost. Much of the waste contains energy, which can be released by further processing. The energy released is a renewable energy. The value of the renewable energy is increased by favorable governmental support. Often, the waste streams will produce valuable renewable or organic co-products. The creation of renewable energy is good for our environment and lessens our dependence on fossil fuels.
